Ok this is part 3 of my "Critique Me Experiment" that i thought of trying ..... once in a while i will post an image or two that i DO want help on and ask you all to gently Critique me ((give me some FRIENDLY advice))
((DO NOT rip into me, NOR rip my artwork apart... i'm just looking for you to give me a little advice... please and thank you ^^))
ALL other artwork i submit ((witch is not in the "Critique me folder" )) i DO NOT want help on... but if you must give tips and such on non-Critique images please send your comments in a note or else the comment will be hidden kept Private between me and the commenter
((Don't like that? to bad this is my profile and i like order and i'll do want i want..... Just because i hide a comment doesn't mean i'm ignoring it nor you))
YES! you CAN! even redline this image (( in fact redlines will be welcomed more then tips i'm a visual learner ))
It's still in sketch form for i'm at a lost i have struggled with this images poses for WAY to long now.... i LOVE the muzzles on these dogs and the paws that are sketched in more detail...
this is going to be a TLotD image once i have it finish
Don't worry about the positions of the dogs ((i will be changing that on photoshop once they are inked, colored, and scanned))
Bottom one is a Kai-ken ((that is why he's drawn smaller then the other one )) and the top one is a kai-ken-GSD-mixed
i know the face is pretty off on the bottom dog and the left front leg of the top dog looks off as well
Note i used NO reffs for these poses... these are 100% mine and i must say i have been seeing A LOT of improvements in my art lately i have been getting A LOT better on my own X3
you didn't use/take my Advice ((some i will others i won't sorry.... i can't please everyone))
You didn't change what i pointed out to you (( somethings on my art work i WILL NOT change for they are the things that make my artwork MINE!!!! so get over it))
Sorry but those 6 phrase drive me up the wall and i will not do any of them i'm happy how my characters look i'm just asking for help with the body/posing of the image
The leaping dog's front legs... I think they're a bit too short. The foreleg part is fine, but the upper part and the shoulder are a bit too thick/short. On its foreground front paw, I don't think that the paw would be bent up in that direction, with the general direction/facing that the body goes in.
I think the top one's head is a bit too big for its body, same possibly for the bottom one (but I'm not sure from that angle). Remember that a dog's head should be as big as its shoulder on average. I also think you could define the breeds more, I do these reference sheets that show you proportions of the breed, and they can help you compare its head and body shape to other breeds. The Kai Ken is a big blocky dog, but it has a round face, so keep the bulk in the chest/stomach area. I don't have a new GSD reference (the old one is really bad so that's why I'm not linking it) but GSD have a very unique head shape and stance (the way they stand). I don't know what your mixed breed has from Kai Ken and GSD (does it have Kai Ken head shape, or GSD headshape?) but you should be able to combine what you need in order to make it look like a proper mix, you can take a look at this if you want, to see how I make my mixed breeds look more realistic.
The Kai-ken the front legs and paws are really nice, and his hind left leg too. however, the hind right leg looks slightly side view, specially because of the paw. this may help you with that [link] & [link]
also, the head look quite big and the muzzle displaced maybe because there isn't a clear difference between the head and the neck.
the only thing I have to say about the kaiken-GSD is that the front legs could be longer.
It's mainly the leaping dog you should try to fix. Like other say, the head it too big and give him more forehead, the muzzle doesn't need those lines next to the eyes. On the first one you've made the back legs much better and the paws too - do the same for the leaping one. Define the anatomical structure with more but smaller lines instead of one big one. For drawing paws in general, the two middle fingers are longer than the other two, put a bit of distance between the big pad and those middle fingers. But it's a big improvement aside from these minor things I can't explain it that good, how about I make some redlines of this instead? If you want of course
